Archive for July, 2009

It’s been some time since I posted. But I won’t abandon this.

I have noticed two things lately.

Number one:
Its hard to just go tell people you’re good at something and convince them its real.
I’ve been telling my friends. They don’t believe me.
What I need is proof.I told them I’ll play for them. That’s one way to solve it.
Show them you are serious. Well that’s just what I’ve been observing. Only those that saw me play, would believe me of course

And there’s Number two:

THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DIGITAL PIANOS & STANDARD PIANOS.

Digital Piano

DIGITAL PIANO

Standard Piano

STANDARD PIANO

The piano I’m currently using is Yamaha Clavinova CLP230. So what I write is in my opinion.

Yamaha Clavinova

YAMAHA CLAVINOVA

Difference No1.
An digital piano is brighter than a real one.
You can play clearer and clearly on an digital piano whilst on a real one, you have to practice much more than that. I’ve been noticing that.

Difference No2.

Piano Foot Pedal

PIANO FOOT PEDAL

The pedals have differences.
An digital piano has only slight differences in pressing the pedals.
While on the other hand, the standard piano has huge differences.
To play excellently you need to judge them well and balance the sustains.

Difference No3.

The Touch Of Hammers & Dampers

THE TOUCH [HAMMERS & DAMPERS]

The touch is different.
Just different.
To play on a digital piano is easier than a standard one. Its much more cleaner and clearer which don’t make blur sounds but a standard piano makes muffled sounds if not played properly. A standard piano also feels spongy if you hit it hard and an digital one feels sharp if you hit it hard on the keys.

But an digital piano has an advantage. If you set the volume just low enough and the touch hard enough. Playing scales will improve our skills and techniques substantially.

Well to be good at piano isn’t easy. Playing on an digital piano might be good enough but the real thing is not that easy.
That’s why practicing and not only just that , practicing WELL will help a lot.

Hi, the earlier video of Torna A Surriento that i posted was a partial clip.

This is the complete version of it.

I know you would look up wikipedia for their background and history, but wouldn’t you like to hear a summarized version here?

Here it goes.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven are known as the two greatest musical composers of all time.

Mozart was born in the year 1756 in Salzburg, Austria. He and his sister Maria Anna, were the only two of their parents’ seven children to survive. As a child, Mozart showed an early talent for music. When he was only three years old, he could already play some musical notes on the harpsichord, a string instrument similar to the piano. He was
playing short pieces at the age of four. He began composing his own music when he was five years old.

Mozart soon became known as the musical genius. People also called him a royal prodigy for having so much talent at such a young age. He even played for royal courts. As Mozart grew up, he composed a variety of classical music for many different instruments, such as symphonies which are played by large orchestras with many kinds of instruments , and concertos which are played by a few instruments. He also composed operas. Mozart’s work have been treasured by music-lovers all through the years; and many composers who are writing today still use Mozart as a guide.

Like Mozart, Beethoven has been admired through the years for his extraordinary skill as a composer. He was born in the year 1770 in Cologne , Germany. his father and grandfather were both great singers in the choir, so Beethoven was born into a family of musicians. the family became poor when his grandfather died, and Beethoven has to leave school at the age of 11 to help his brothers and sisters. Beethoven’s father hoped that his son would be a child prodigy like Mozart, but Beethoven did not show real talent until he was older.

Beethoven went to music school in Vienna, Austria where he met Mozart and learnt from him. Beethoven was on his way to becoming a wonderful composer. He wrote symphonies and pieces of music for the piano. But Beethoven had a very special problem. He was deaf.

He cannot hear with his ears . Beethoven started to lose his hearing as a child and for the last ten years of his life, he could not hear anything at all. Even though he was deaf, Beethoven could remember the sounds of music and he wrote beautiful music from his memory. Even today, many of Beethoven’s works are easy recognizable for people worldwide.
